Spread A Smile BC Foundation was born from a simple belief: everyone deserves access to oral healthcare, dignity, and opportunity.
Through firsthand experience, our founders witnessed the challenges faced by individuals and families who were unable to access essential dental care because of financial, geographic, or social barriers. These experiences inspired the creation of a nonprofit organization dedicated to making oral healthcare more accessible and improving the wellbeing of underserved communities.
As our work expanded, we recognized another important challenge facing Canada. Every year, internationally educated dentists arrive with valuable skills and experience, yet many struggle to navigate licensing requirements and remain connected to the profession they love.
This realization broadened our mission. Today, Spread A Smile BC Foundation not only supports communities through oral health initiatives but also helps internationally educated dentists build meaningful careers in Canada through mentorship, workforce development, and employer partnerships.

Together, Dr. Amaan Kataria and Anchal Kataria combine clinical expertise, community leadership, and a passion for service to create programs that strengthen communities while helping internationally educated dentists build successful careers in Canada.
Dr. Amaan Kataria’s passion for dentistry began with a promise to his grandfather a promise that inspired a lifelong commitment to restoring confidence, dignity, and quality of life through oral healthcare.
Today, that commitment extends beyond clinical care. Through Spread A Smile BC Foundation, Dr. Kataria is working to improve access to oral healthcare while creating opportunities for internationally educated dentists to contribute their knowledge and skills to Canada’s dental profession.
His vision is to build a stronger oral healthcare workforce where communities receive better access to care and internationally educated professionals have meaningful opportunities to succeed.
Anchal Kataria has always believed that meaningful change begins with compassion and collaboration.
Her experience working with patients and communities revealed how many individuals faced barriers to accessing essential dental care. These experiences inspired her to help build an organization focused not only on improving oral healthcare but also on strengthening communities through education, partnerships, and opportunity.
Today, Anchal leads initiatives that foster collaboration between dental professionals, employers, community organizations, and volunteers, helping create lasting impact for individuals and families across Canada.
